Santa Cruz Japanese Cultural Fair Sponsored by Watsonville Santa Cruz JACL

The purpose of the Japanese Cultural Fair is to provide an opportunity for the community to increase its awareness and understanding of Japanese culture. We believe that through increased education and exposure to the culture of Japan, we can help to improve mutual understanding among neighbors of the Pacific Rim and enrich the community of Santa Cruz.

The 2024 Japanese Cultural Fair will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 11:00 am-6:00 pm at the Mission Plaza Park in Santa Cruz.  Our Watsonville-Santa Cruz JACL Chapter is one of the sponsors of the Japanese Cultural Fair and will have a booth.  Please come visit us!

Shuttle: FREE JCF Shuttle Bus courtesy of Santa Cruz Toyota.  Every year, shuttle service to and from the  Santa Cruz Government Center to the Fair is provided free of charge!

Service Dogs only on a lease in the Park on the day of the Fair. Handicapped parking spaces will be available on Emmett Street.

For more details, see the Japanese Cultural Fair website at https://www.jcfsantacruz.org

The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History Day of Remembrance now available to view for APAHM

The panel featured a discussion with William A. Harris, the director of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum; artist and biologist Perrin Ireland, Roosevelt’s great-granddaughter; and Madeline Y. Hsu, professor of history and director of the Center for Global Migration Studies at the University of Maryland. Moderated by David Inoue, the executive director of the Japanese American Citizens League, the discussion resonates with the Smithsonian’s goal “to create a hopeful future for all people using history and reconciliation to contextualize and transform our understandings and responses to race and racism.”
