NCWNP National Convention Youth Sponsorship Program

The NCWNP District Youth Board is excited to announce our NCWNP National Convention Youth Sponsorship Program (NNCYSP)! Those selected will receive free registration for the 2023 JACL National Convention in Little Tokyo, travel accommodations to Los Angeles, a 4-night hotel stay, and 1-year of JACL membership. The program is open to all youth residents (18-25) of the JACL NCWNP District.

The NCWNP District Youth Board founded this pilot initiative after recognizing the need to increase youth engagement within the JACL. By removing the financial barriers to entering the organization, youth participants will have the opportunity to engage with members from across the United States at the JACL's largest annual event. Through support from the NCWNP District Council and funding from the JA Community Foundation, we hope that this program will leave a lasting impact on its participants and inspire them to remain engaged in the JACL.

The application can be found at tinyurl.com/nncysp-23 and the deadline is Sunday, May 14 at 11:59 PM PST. More information and program requirements can be found in the application. Please share this information with anyone you know who might be interested. If you have any questions, email us at ncwnpyouthboard@jacl.org.

Help Find a Match for Mama Grannis!

From Kina Grannis:

Hi! Kina, Emi, and Misa Grannis here. Thanks for coming to help save our mom’s life. Here’s the deal: If you know our family, you know that our mom is an incredibly magical human. If you don’t know our family, trust us when we tell you that she brings light to everything and everyone she touches. Right now, she needs your help.

The short version:

1. Mama G has a bone marrow cancer called myelofibrosis.

2. She needs a blood stem cell donor* as soon as possible to save her life.

3. To see if you are her match, all you have to do is swab your cheeks with DKMS provided swabs.

*Due to our mom’s specific condition, she needs a blood stem cell donor, not a bone marrow donor. It’s a different (and much simpler) donation process. Either way, all that’s required up front are cheek swabs.
