|
| The Greater Portland Japanese American community came together to recognize 13 honorees at the third annual Centenarian Luncheon held on October 25. And zero honorees arrived in a wheelchair. Said Gresham-Troutdale chapter president and event chair Terry Nishikawa, "I know one who is 102 and she swims almost every day." The annual luncheon honors those who are 95 years old and older, and this year featured Consul General Ken Todoriki as the keynote speaker. The six community organizations that joined together and collaborated are the Gresham-Troutdale and Portland JACL, the Japanese Ancestral Society of Portland, the Japanese American Museum of Oregon, the Veleda Club, and Ikoi no Kai.
