| USC Shinso Ito Center - The Alien Enemies Act of 1798: Understanding 1941 and 2025 - October 9, 2025 This panel will address how this act was applied to and impacted the Japanese American wartime community, ramifications of the current administration’s approaches, the status of the court cases challenging the administration’s use of AEA, and the amicus brief that was filed on behalf of descendants of Issei men who were imprisoned when the AEA was invoked in World War II. The speakers also will discuss how to accurately and effectively speak about the lessons from history when communities, especially those of color, live under the specter and reality of arrest, detention, and deportation. This is a hybrid event. Please click here to register for the Zoom link. Click here to RSVP for the in-person event. |

This included a new roof (we were told it had been leaking for 20+ years), new flooring, lighting, ceiling, painting, new appliances, electrical and HVAC in the downstairs. Funds were raised by purchasing a plaque for the Memorial Wall. On Sept. 14 we had the dedication ceremony. | | Today, Great Leap and the Manzanar Baseball Project have taken on the sizeable task of restoring the baseball field at Manzanar. Through its historical re-enactment doubleheader played on Manzanar's lovingly restored ballfield, the Manzanar Baseball Project honors Japanese Americans who found a way to play the game they loved in spite of injustice. This project is a tribute to the spirit and determination of the Japanese American community, the power of baseball to uplift and unite people, and the importance of safeguarding the rights and principles enshrined in our Constitution. |
